Dr. Hugo Medina passed away on Sunday 25th November from complications following throat cancer. Hugo obtained his veterinary qualification from the National University of Mexico and earned an MS degree from the University of Minnesota. He was a Diplomate of the American College of Poultry Veterinarians. Hugo was active in all aspects of poultry medicine serving on committees of the AAAP and the Board of the ACPV.  In his long career he worked with broilers and turkeys in California and during the past 10 years was a company veterinarian in the egg production industry. Hugo was always willing to help colleagues and share his experience through informal interaction with peers and at scientific meetings. He was intensely practical in his approach to prevention of disease based on his logical application of current science to the production environment. He was an active participant in programs promoting poultry health and productivity and was a frequent speaker on salmonellosis, welfare and contributed to the Secure Egg Supply Plan. His contributions to the egg industry and his warm personal qualities will be sadly missed.
