School, and the Foster Farms philanthropic support to advance the School’s missions.

The award was presented October 2 at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine Fall Faculty Reception 2012.

For more than 15 years, Foster has assisted the School-as advisor, fundraiser, benefactor, pet owner and corporate collaborator-and significantly enhanced its teaching, research and service missions. Foster was a charter member of the Dean’s Advisory Council and has served continuously since 1998, currently as Vice Chair.

He chaired the campaign to raise funds for a new dairy teaching facility in Tulare, making numerous trips to oversee the committee for planning and fund raising. The funds also helped support the Continuing Education Pavilion. Through his contacts in the poultry industry, Foster helped to secure matching contributions for the new poultry faculty position at the School of Veterinary Medicine. Foster Farms was also a major contributor.

In 1996, Foster established an endowed veterinary student scholarship in honor of his grandparents, Max and Verda Foster, who started the family-owned Foster Farms in 1939. Foster frequently attends the School’s scholarship awards ceremony to personally present scholarships to the student recipients of this award. More
