Millions of pounds of food have been misbranded and are considered a health risk, as the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has issued recalls this week affecting several food companies across the nation.
Spanning nine food brands and dozens of products so far, the USDA cites bread crumbs containing unlabeled milk – an allergen – as the cause of recall. The most notable recalls include nearly 2.5 million pounds of Tyson Foods Inc. breaded chicken products and about 700,000 pounds of Conagra Brands, Inc. (owner of Chef Boyardee pasta products).
