Industry efforts to reduce salmonella

Foster Farms recently provided an update on their efforts to reduce Salmonella in poultry products. Robert O’Connor, senior vice president for technical services announced that the company has achieved a salmonella incidence in chicken of approximately 2 percent.  Compare that to the USDA 2011/2012 industry benchmark level of 25 percent! The company has taken an aggressive approach to Salmonella control by systematically addressing all vectors of contamination.
