The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced it elected to extended the comment period for its proposed rule on the Salmonella Framework for Raw Poultry Products until Jan. 17. Initially set for October 7, 2024, the deadline was previously extended to November 7, 2024, but additional requests from stakeholders, including consumer groups, industry associations and academia, led to this further extension. FSIS recently hosted webinars, but The National Chicken Council (NCC) said afterwards that the web events were insufficient and requested a 90-day extension to the comment period. Read more
