House Republicans are expected to release Farm Bill, with the goal of conducting a markup later this month.
House Agriculture Committee Chairman GT Thompson (R-PA) has said the committee will release the text of an updated Farm Bill, following the committee’s release of an initial bill in 2024. The 2026 version is expected to look similar to the previous offering, with changes made to accommodate farm provisions that were included in last summer’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
That legislation addressed a significant portion of the Farm Bill’s provisions for row crops, including crop insurance, reference prices, and other provisions. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act also doubled authorized funding for USDA’s trade promotion programs, including the Market Access Program (MAP) and Foreign Market Development (FMD) program.
Chairman Thompson said the committee plans to hold a markup on the bill starting on February 23. Read more
