USDA’s decision to delay a new poultry transparency rule has ag leaders questioning the Trump administration’s commitment to farmers.
USDA announced the proposed Poultry Grower Payment Systems and Capital Improvement Systems final rule will not go into effect July 1 as originally scheduled. Instead, the rule will be delayed until Dec. 31, 2027. According to a release from USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service, the delay is intended to allow more consideration of cost, policy and legal issues associated with the rule. Read more
