Avian flu vaccines protect laying hens in first phase field study

University researchers in the Netherlands discovered that two bird flu vaccines currently being tested in a field study have been found to protect laying hens from the disease eight weeks after vaccination. This was shown in a transmission study conducted by Wageningen Bioveterinary Research (WBVR, part of Wageningen University & Research). The field study was commissioned by the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV).
