Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) has resurfaced in Sanpete County, Utah, one of the counties hardest hit by HPAI in the United States in 2022.

The latest case comes just shy of a year after the last instance of HPAI in the county. According to information from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), the presence of HPAI was confirmed in commercial turkeys in Sanpete County on October 6.
