Congressman Jim Costa (CA-16), who is seeking the chairmanship of the House Agriculture Committee, earned the endorsement of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) for his long track record of fighting for the Latino community:IIn a letter to House colleagues, members wrote: “A sixteen-year veteran of the [Agriculture] Committee, Congressman Costa has the knowledge, experience, and passion to elevate issues important to the American people. His top priority for the Agriculture Committee is to ensure no American goes hungry. So much of what our Caucus stands for is touched by the Committee, from hunger and nutrition, to growth of rural economies, and advocating for farmworkers and farmers. We have seen Congressman Costa’s leadership firsthand and know he would be a great asset to our country if given the opportunity to serve as Chair.”

“I’m proud to earn the endorsement of my colleagues in the CHC,” said Costa. “Throughout my years on the Ag Committee, I’ve fought for farmworker protections, grown economic opportunity in rural America, and expanded nutrition programs to ensure every American has access to nutritious food. I’d like to thank my fellow CHC members for their support and if elected, I will continue to fight to deliver results as we confront the issues facing American agriculture.” Costa, a member of the CHC since 2005, has also received endorsement from a long list of key Members of Congress and a host of other groups.
