The National Chicken Council (NCC) said it remains opposed to USDA’s salmonella policy for not ready-to-eat (NRTE) breaded, stuffed chicken products, even after the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced a six-month delay in its new sampling program.
FSIS said in a Federal Register notice that the program, originally set to begin May 1, will now start Nov. 3. The agency cited the need to finalize instructions, train inspectors and laboratories, and provide guidance to processors.
