A federal district court has upheld the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) 2019 exemption not requiring poultry and egg producers to report air emissions from animal waste decomposition.

The U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia issued its order Thursday, confirming that farms are not required to report ammonia emissions under the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA). The court found the EPA exemption appropriate due to the relationship between EPCRA and Superfund law reporting requirements. Read more
