In exciting news, last week the U.S. Senate voted
to confirm Dr. Mindy Brashears as Under Secretary of Food Safety within the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). As Under Secretary, Dr. Brashears will be responsible for oversight of the policies and programs of USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), a position that has been vacant for more than five years.NTF looks forward to continuing to work with Under Secretary Brashears in her new role and advancing the shared goals of delivering safe, wholesome turkey products to consumers while amplifying food safety education.
