President Trump urged House Republicans and Democrats to work together to reopen the federal government on Monday, saying that “no changes” should be made to the Senate-passed legislation “at this time.”
“I am working hard with Speaker Johnson to get the current funding deal, which passed in the Senate last week, through the House and to my desk, where I will sign it into Law, IMMEDIATELY!” Trump wrote in a TruthSocial post. “We need to get the Government open, and I hope all Republicans and Democrats will join me in supporting this Bill, and send it to my desk WITHOUT DELAY. There can be NO CHANGES at this time,” he continued.
The president’s post comes as a partial government shutdown is hitting major parts of the government, including the Pentagon, the Department of Health and Human Services, and the Department of Homeland Security. Read more
