Calif. antibiotic resistance bill goes to governor

The California Legislature has sent to the governor two bills that would prohibit the use of antibiotics in farm animals as growth enhancers and would establish hospital programs to ensure responsible use of antibiotics in humans.Sen. Jerry Hill introduced the legislation because the widespread use of antibiotics has increased resistance to infections. The bill moves ahead at a time when lawmakers nationwide are pressing for more oversight of antibiotics use in animals. Read More
