"I’m here to announce that the Obama Administration is once again taking action to hold China accountable for commitments that it made when it joined the World Trade Organization ten years ago.
Today’s action pertains to what we believe is China’s wrongful imposition of trade remedies against U.S. chicken products. It’s a case that has implications for an estimated 300,000 American farmers and workers throughout the U.S. poultry supply chain."Specifically, today the United States is requesting consultations in the World Trade Organization (WTO) to challenge antidumping and countervailing duties against U.S. chicken products that we will show are inconsistent with WTO rules. Cargill announces voluntary ground turkey recall
Cargill Value Added Meats Retail, a business unit of Wichita-based Cargill Meat Solutions Corporation, today announced an immediate Class I voluntary recall of approximately 36 million pounds of fresh and frozen ground turkey products produced at the company’s Springdale, Ark., facility from Feb. 20, 2011, through Aug. 2, 2011, due to possible contamination from Salmonella Heidelberg.
