The federal agency that monitors food-borne illnesses and other related illnesses has declared that an outbreak of salmonella stemming from poultry produced by Foster Farms is over after 17 months.  (Click here to read the response by Foster Farms). The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that a total of 634 people were infected by seven strains of salmonella between March 1, 2013 and July 11, of this year.  No deaths were reported during an outbreak that stretched across 29 states and Puerto Rico, but 38 percent of those were hospitalized, the CDC reported.
