As the number of deaths and illnesses from the avian influenza outbreak in China expands, the toll on China’s poultry industry is starting to mount. Live poultry markets in Beijing will be closed soon following the city’s first two cases of H7N9, according to the state-run Shanghai Daily Newspaper. Animal health inspection officials said a seven-year-old girl  girl – whose parents are poultry dealers – came into contact with poultry shipped from Tianjin before being infected, according to the China Daily/Asia News Network.
