The former chief financial officer of Apple Inc. has pledged $20 million to Cal Poly’s College of Agriculture, Food & Environmental Sciences – the largest cash gift the university has ever received, the university announced Monday.

Peter Oppenheimer, 51, pledged the donation with his wife, Mary Beth. Both are Cal Poly graduates. The donation is expected to be used to build new facilities for the college and to modernize many of the existing teaching units in the animal science department.
