The number of official government recalls of meat and poultry and the total pounds recalled rose in 2014, with more allergen and labeling issues and fewer pathogen-related recalls, according to data from the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). The agency reported 94 recalls totalling 18.7 million pounds in 2014, compared to 75 recalls involved in 13.1 million pounds in 2013.
