High-path avian flu outbreak in commercial flock in California

A commercial poultry flock in California has tested positive for the H5N8 subtype of the highly pathogenic avian influenza virus following higher-than-usual mortalities among chickens. The World Organization for Animal Health received Follow-up Report No.7 dated Feb. 13, from the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS). The farm was hit by the outbreak on 2 February. It is located in Kings County, California and is a commercial chicken and duck operation with 114,000 birds.Read More
