House farm bill split decision angers ag groups, legislators

On Thursday the Republican-led House of Representatives passed its version of the farm bill, but only after stripping out the provisions for food stamps and nutrition programs and promising to address their funding at a later date. The political compromise, which garnered just enough votes to pass the version of the bill with a margin of 216-208, left legislators from agriculture states and at least one farm group fuming.
