The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal & Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) launched an interactive website that contains links for livestock producers to obtain premises identification numbers (PINs) and location identifiers (LIDs) within their respective states.
APHIS said federal PINs or state-specific LIDs are unique codes permanently assigned to a physical location. PIN and LID registrations, which are administered by states, allow animal health officials to quickly identify and locate animals in the event of an animal health or food safety emergency.
