Dr. Katy J. Tarrant from Fayetteville, Arkansas is joining the faculty in the Department of Animal Sciences and Agricultural Education at California State University, Fresno in August of 2016. Mrs. Tarrant received her B.S and M.S. degrees in Biological Sciences from Sam Houston University in Huntsville, Texas. She continued her education and received her Ph.D. degree in Cell and Molecular Biology at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She most recently was a Program Associate in the Poultry Science Department at the University of Arkansas. While there, Katy worked with industry to perform research trials at the University of Arkansas poultry research farm facility and pilot processing plant. Her research experience includes molecular breeding genetics, meat quality evaluation, lameness evaluation and microbial impact on lameness, and investigation into incidence of ascites syndrome.
