The NPIP Subsidized Small Flock Program is currently closed.
You will be contacted if a slot opens up. Please do not call or email inquiring where you stand on the waitlist (see red note below). But, HPAI still is a concern in California. Due to active surveillance, outbreaks have slowed down recently. This does not mean biosecurity vigilance should be reduced. CDFA veterinarians conduct the Flock Inspection required to join NPIP. If HPAI cases start to increase this spring, flock inspections could be put on hold for disease mitigation.

A special Small Backyard Flock program has been established to educate flockowners about biosecurity and management of small flocks. The program is subsidized by the CPHB while we continue to receive special funds for Avian Influenza monitoring. This program only is available to small flocks of 100 or fewer birds. All participating flocks must test for Pullorum-Typhoid and Avian Influenza.

For more information or questions on any part of the NPIP program, please contact Monica Della Maggiore at (209) 576-6355 or by [email protected].
